Busuttin issues ominous Blind Raise warning

Trainer Trent Busuttin has revealed Saturday will be the first time Blind Raise heads to the races at 100 per cent.

In an ominous warning to his rivals, Busuttin said the leading Caulfield Guineas contender had battled “little niggles” all the way through his career so far.

He has won four of his five career starts.

“I know it will be the first time this horse will go to the races 100 per cent,” Busuttin told The Verdict podcast on Wednesday.

“He’s always just had little niggles, behind the scenes.

“His coat has been nowhere near where we’ve wanted it.

“Looking at him yesterday, his coat looks brilliant.”

Blind Raise has been dominant in both starts this campaign, scoring in the Listed McKenzie Stakes at Sandown comfortably before powering to victory in the Group 3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude by 2.75 lengths, despite being challenged heavily mid-race.

“We are fairly confident with our bloke,” Busuttin said.

Blind Raise was a $75,000 purchase for Busuttin Young Racing from The Oaks Stud's Book 1 draft at Karaka in 2025.   The Cambridge farm also bred the colt who hails from the famous Seachange family.
